Okay, so.
I AM IN "THE" LAND.
What have I done so far?
Er. Stayed in bed. Spoke to the parentals, which is always nice. Went to the post office to find it closed. Bought an Israeli sim card. Went to the butcher and bought a steak (which i cooked tonight OMG steak is so good.. meat.. good.. steak yum meat steak good.. I have reverted into a pre-cro-magnon... me want meat... i dont even think they would have had that much syntax.. well you never know) Either way i had a good meat fix.
Actually it's quite an amusing picture i shall paint for you - i walked into the butcher and these three, well, butchers were sitting in the front area where the customers would stand were they buying meat. They are sitting around a make-shift table and their clothes are all grimy and bloody from their work. Each of them had a bowl of Shakshuka (tomato stuff with egg).
I'm like "so is this joint Kosher?".
"Yeah," replies leading butcher guy, spraying some tomato on his shirt which actually blends right in. He points to the Hechsher (Kosher certificate).
"Right, so can i buy a steak?"
"Yeah."
"Okay... so can I buy it?"
"yeah" and he lazily picks himself up and shuffles his feet behind the counter. He picks up one bloody (well juicy, not bloody) steak and shoves it in a bag. 22 shekels later and I'm leaving these boys to their lunch.
Right, now you may wonder what else i did with my day? oh yeh, i slept. And then you may wonder what I am going to do tomorrow... Oh yeah.. sleep.
I think my actual stay in Israel will start on Wednesday. My body and I have a pact that it will be better by then. Here's hoping.
Also did i tell any of you that I'm sleeping in a kinda bomb shelter? Well apparently (i cant spell that word) in the 90's? maybe earlier. Actually i dont know the dates at all.. i dont actually rememeber any of the history that was told to me yesterday but all apartments need a room that could survive a bombing.. like steel reinforced. It's not underground, actually Im on the 2nd floor, but it has weird windows and if you close the door you can't hear anything. It's great for sleeping in...
What else can I tell you? I feel completely safe here. That's always a good thing. OH YEAH it was like 22 degrees celcius TOday. AMEZZING! (israeli accent) I love it.. LOVE. LOVELOVELOVE. I also realised the my 2006 Eurail timetable and readers manual weighs like 2kg and i didnt even use it.. and i was walking around with it for like 4.5 months. stupid.
Okay shower time...
