So i got a complaint that i use too many hebrew and yiddish words that people unfamiliar with them cannot understand. This is like the glossary post.

Shuk Ha-carmel - Carmel Market, in Tel Aviv.
Tu-Bishvat - a Jewish holiday for the trees... it's like about planting trees etc.
Chassidic - certain texts (?) related to the torah and god (Judaism). I dont know who wrote them but they dictate certain ideals and a way of life. there are different sects of judaism that follow chassidut. I don't. (I hope that is right)
Chabad - a kind of sect of Chassid - people who are "chabad" believe in Chassidic learnings and follow a rabbi called "the Rebbe". Can be slightly fanatical.
(THe whole chassid/chabad thing is also related to lubavitch but i can't really go into it all. suffice it to sy that within Judaism there are many different interpretations of the texts which lead to different jewish people living jewish lives differently. The people you see with black hats and the long curly hair from the sideburns -
((Peot - the long hair grown from the sideburns - decreed by god that men should not cut them or something.. maybe that is a rabbi's interpretation))
and who walk around with big beards and many children. It's such a huge topic that i can't really explain it. mainly because i do not know enough)
Sfat (tzfat, Safed) - a place in the north of Israel. There are MANY MANY chassidim there, as well as many chabad outposts. Very spiritual place.
Le'Chaim - like "cheers" or "salude". It means "To Life".
Shabbat - sabbath, day of rest
Chol - any day not shabbat - weekdays
Bal Shem tov - the Lubavitcher Rebbe, (a chassid, related to chabad etc)
Moshiach - Messiah
Tzadik - righteous person, close to god, very very good.
Averah - sin
Chag Sameach - "happy festival" like a festival greeting
Negilah - you know those huge things that you smoke fruit tobacco out of? that's a nargilah...
Ranana - suburb
Chulon - suburb
Nachalat Binyamin - artist market, tuesdays and fridays in tel-aviv. i recommend anyone go
Hadag Nachash - a band, hip hop
shakshuka - famous dish with tomato and egg.

I can't really think of much else i have said that people may not understand.

Hope that was helpful.

Just a slight update that i have been in Jerusalem for the past... 5 days and volunteered in a soup kitchen, went to yad vashem, went to the old city, met with many people. Was really nice.. got a wedding tomorrow night... woohoo!@!

xx

(yad Vashem - holocaust museum in jerusalem.. very very amazing and sad)
